"אם לא עכשיו אימתי?" - כי באמת אין לנו שום דבר אלא עכשיו.

It occurred to me that when Chazal say אם לא עכשיו אימתי, they aren’t just telling us a cutsie piece of advice. They are saying something profound. They are telling us that there is no other time to do anything. We human beings are perpetually stuck in NOW. The past is gone and the future doesn’t exist yet. Past and future are nothing but an illusion. They don’t exist in reality, only in our minds - like a fantasy.

When we truly and deeply internalize this truth, it changes our entire perspective on everything we do. Because I never did anything in the past. When talking of the past, it’s like talking about my soul in a previous life-time. It has nothing to do with my reality. And the me of tomorrow is also non-existent.

If we don’t utilize this very second to its fullest, it is lost forever. אם לא עכשיו אימתי? If not now, when, later? There is no such thing.
