What does sign mean? A sign is to remind us of a greater truth. Like the raindbow was a אות הברית to remind the world that Hashem won’t destroy it again.

זֹאת אוֹת-הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי נֹתֵן בֵּינִי וּבֵינֵיכֶם

1) Bris: The world needs fixing, we need fixing.

וּנְמַלְתֶּם, אֵת בְּשַׂר עָרְלַתְכֶם; וְהָיָה לְאוֹת בְּרִית, בֵּינִי וּבֵינֵיכֶם.

2) Teffilin: והיה לך לאות על ידך

All we do should be for Hashem, לשעבד בזה תאוות ומחשבות לבנו לעבודתו

3) Shabbos:

לעשות את השבת לדורותם ברית עולם, ביני ובין בני ישראל אות היא לעולם כי ששת ימים… וביום השביעי שבת

That the purpose of everything is for יום שכולו שבת

We need all three signs. One, the world needs fixing, Two: We can fix it, and 3, Shabbos - to remember the purpose of it all, that Hashem wants only to be טוב ומיטיב at the end of the day (or at the end of 6 days – 6 thousand years). When we have Shabbos, we don’t need the teffilin because it’s not a time to remember the work we need to do. That is for the 6 days of maaseh.

Hashem gave us Shabbos as a gift, because we’re still in the 6,000 years of tikun, yet Hashem gave us one day that is מעין עולם הבא - to remember אתה קדשת את יום השביעי תכלס שמיים וארץ - to remember that the tachlis is not work - but להתענג על ה. Because if we forget the tachlis, we won’t have the strength to do the work. (That is maybe related to what the sefarim say, that the 6 days of the week get their strength from Shabbos). But it’s not just a reminder, it’s a gift in the sense that on Shabbos comes down this bechina of me’in olam haba - that kol melachtecha asuya, for real. And the more a person believes this, the more light he is zoche to on Shabbos from this bechina.

ברית בגמטריה 612, כי שבת הוא בצד אחד - וכל התורה כולה בצד שני - כי חז"ל אומרים מי ששומר שבת, כאילו קיים כל התורה כולה, דהיינו 612 מצוות. וכן הברית מילה חשוב כנגד כולם, כי הוא האות שהגשמיות צריך תיקון, ע"י מה? ע"י 612 מצוות אחרות. וגם בגלל שכל התאוות כלולים בו (עיין ספר דרך אמת)
