Me:

This is very insightful! I believe that since we are a chelek eloka mimal, we are really just part of Hashem and at the highest level, there is no free choice. As R' Avinoam said, free choice is a result of tzimtzum. The more we perceive that we "exist" as a separate entity, from Keter to Malchus, from Yechida to Nefesh, from Atzilut to Asiyah, the tzimtzum gets stronger and free choice seems more real to us. [But maybe one day, when everything returns to its source in a million billion years, we will find that we are really just looking in the mirror and smiling, because it's like we did this all to ourselves. We are a part of Hashem. (I hope this isn't keffirah)]
