העידתי בכם היום את השמים ואת הארץ החיים והמות נתתי לפניך הברכה והקללה *ובחרת בחיים* למען תחיה אתה וזרעך

And in another it says:

וזכרת את ה' אלהיך *כי הוא הנתן לך כח לעשות חיל*

Which sounds like it’s all Hashem…

And again,

In one place it says:

*ומל ה' אלהיך* את לבבך ואת לבב זרעך לאהבה את ה' אלהיך בכל לבבך ובכל נפשך למען חייך

And in another it says:

*ומלתם את ערלת לבבכם* וערפכם לא תקשו עוד

So clearly both are true. Therefore, maybe our nekudas habechira is really only EMUNAH, i.e. that we choose to believe we have bechira even though we don't understand how it’s possible.

Before the deed, we must take the ובחרת בחיים approach, and after the maaseh, we give it back to Hashem with the כי *הוא* הנתן לך כח לעשות חיל approach.

It’s just like the chassidish sefarim write that a person needs to have two tools, one of total bitul and one of self-esteem. Before the maaseh, we need to believe in ourselves. After the maaseh, humility.

This is not just similar to the above, this is the SAME as the above.
